There was a rich pious Brahmin merchant who had no children. This was always worrying him and due to this reason he was not able to enjoy his life to the fullest. Once the merchant couple visit Gangapur and make a wish and pray to Sriguru that by His grace if they are blessed with children they would offer food to 1000 Brahmins. With Sriguru's blessings the merchant's wife gave birth to a beautiful boy. The couple's happiness had no bounds! They were very grateful to Sriguru for His blessing. Now it was the time for the couple to fulfill the vow they had made.Unfortunately, the merchant sees heavy losses in his business(stock market) and dies due to this shock. The mother had to take the responsibility of the child. She always remembered of the incomplete vow and her helpless state of not being able to offer food to 1000 Brahmins as at this point in life she can't afford to feed so many.
One day she express her helpless state of not being able to fulfill her vow to her neighbor. Her neighbor suggests her to revisit Gangapur and pray to Sriguru to show her some way to fulfill her vow and Sriguru will definitely show her some means to fulfill her vow.The merchant's wife along with her child visits Gangapur as per her advice, worships Nirguna Paduka's of Srigruru and decides to stay that night at Gangapur. When she falls asleep, Sriguru gives darshan in her dream and tells her to visit Akkalkot and offer food to Swami Samatha Maharaj as offering food to Him is as pious as offering food to 1000 Brahmins. She pays her respect to Sriguru for guiding her in dream and decides to visit Akkalkot.
When she reaches Akkalkot she sess Swami playing on the streets like a small kid.She feels very happy at His darshan and pays obeisance to Swami. Swami was also very very happy to see her as He knew how much the she pinned to fulfill the vow the couple had made. She was constantly waiting to feed 1000 Brahmins in spite of her poverty.Swami Himself asks her to give Him some food. She offers food to Swami with a feeling of gratitude.
After finishing the meal Swami very affectionately asks her, " Are you happy now that your vow of feeding 1000 Brahmins is fulfilled? " Listening to Swami, she was left with no words, except tears in her eyes filled with devotion and joy! As she realizes Sriguru and Swami Samarth are no different!Swami blesses both the mother and the child.
The one important thing we learn from this chapter is, as the merchant's wife was truthful, devoted and constantly remembering her vow, Swami Himself guided her seeing her faith and love she had for Guru. The love she had for Guru had made her to constantly think of her incomplete vow. Because of this Virtuous quality she was fortunate enough to serve food to the Parabrahma who took human form for our well being.
Later, she along with her son frequently visited Swami and worshiped Him.
Also, one needs to remember Guru is an enlightened soul who knows a devotees past, present and future. He wants and knows how to protect and give them strength. Guru completely takes the responsibility of His devotees. It is always good to follow one's Guru's teachings or advice without any second thought. But, lack of faith we overhear His advice and tend to take certain steps and create trouble for our self.
